Baptism FAQ:
Who should get baptized?
If you have accepted Christ as your Lord and want to openly declare your intent to follow Him. (Romans 10:9-10)
What is baptism?
Baptism is the outward expression of an inward commitment you have made in your heart to follow Jesus. Baptism does not bestow salvation. Instead it is the public act of obedience which expresses a person’s faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross.
When do baptisms happen at Newsong?
We have Baptism Sunday about every eight weeks.
What’s your policy on young kids getting baptized?
We baptize at age 12 and over, though special consideration will be made for children as young as 8, with their pastor’s approval. For those younger, we offer child dedication as a way for parents and the church family to commit to raising a child in the way of the Lord. Click
here to download the application for child dedication and bring it to one of our Newsong Kids volunteers.
I want to get baptized. What should I do next?
We provide a 30 minute baptism class service each the week prior to Baptism Sunday. For those who are between the ages of 8 and 12, please meet with the Newsong Kids pastor (for grades 3-5) or the Newsong Youth pastor (grade 6) at least one week prior to the baptism class.
